Accessibility & Inclusion

Hidden Secrets Tours knows our customers are diverse and curious travellers and visitors. We aim to welcome people from all backgrounds, cultures and abilities. Hidden Secrets Tours is owned by a neurodivergent creative and operates in heritage areas of Melbourne city centre. We are committed to creating marketing and experiences that are accessible to all. To ensure the most welcoming experience we do encourage guests to advise us of individual considerations prior to arrival as everyone’s needs differ.

We have a continual improvement philosophy. The safety and well-being of guests is important to us, and to the businesses we visit.

Marketing:

With modern technology our website is designed with WordPress and Google tools with best efforts to simplify for screen readers and translation tools. We aim to show diversity in our imagery.

Mobility:

The pace of our walking tours is like a stroll, and distances covered are between 2 and 3 kilometres per itinerary.

Wheelchair Access:  We take time to understand your accessibility requirements.  We work with Travellers Aid (travellersaid.org.au), which has two locations, Southern Cross Station, and Flinders Street station. The Flinders Street Station hub is directly opposite one of our main meeting points where mobility aids can be hired. Our team is keen to work with you to ensure any access details are explained to meet your needs – whether wide doorways are important, steps need to be avoided, sensory needs catered for. Our tour routes and venues we visit are able to be adapted to ensure sufficient wheelchair access with prior knowledge. We happily design bespoke tours where mobility scooters and electric chairs where needed. Please check with our reservations team prior to booking.

Access:

Assistance for the Hearing and Visually Impaired: We offer some support for individuals who are hearing or visually impaired. Currently we do all tours in person without amplification. We welcome your enquiry to discuss your needs prior to booking a tour so we can offer appropriate assistance. We have laneway itineraries already devised for visually impaired private or group bookings.

We accept companion cards (subject to tour capacity) and registered service animals are welcome.

Wifi is available for free in many open spaces in Melbourne including Federation Square and Bourke Street Mall.

We have designed our standard tours for adults. We welcome family groups and curious teenagers where we can adapt to their age groups or create bespoke options.

Food allergies and dietary concerns

Food is a treasured part of a Melbourne visit. Many of our food and drink experiences have prearranged menus. We can accommodate a wide range of dietary needs, including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan options with advance notice. Please inform us of your dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Language and Lifestyle

Travel brings diverse communities together. Internationals and locals, LGBTQI+ and neurologically diverse guests may find themselves on the same tour.  Whether a shared tour experience or a private booking is made, we can provide clear and predictable schedules via detailed itineraries provided in advance to help reduce anxiety, socially relevant recommendations, and language guides if needed (French and German as at 2024). As passionate fans of the city, we know where to access to a quiet space if tour guests are feeling overwhelmed. Our aim is always to share our passion for the city we know, where the smaller lesser-known details are part of our itinerary, so we consult and design experiences that inspire our guests
