A Melbourne Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Secrets Blog

This Mother’s Day we may be missing out on shared brunches and our family usual traditions, but there are still so many ways to celebrate Mum while also supporting Melbourne small businesses and local makers. We thought we’d put together a guide if you’re looking to #ShopLocal this Mothers Day.

Hidden Secrets Gift Vouchers

Of course we’re going to start by suggesting a Hidden Secrets Tours gift voucher for Mum. Rediscover Melbourne with your Mum when the city opens back up to tours. We’re busy designing special small group tours to reignite your love for Melbourne, and would love to see you and your Mum in the not too distant future. You can grab a Hidden Secrets gift voucher here.

Travel the world via your taste buds when venues re-open

We’re big foodies at Hidden Secrets, so if a belated family dinner is on the cards, we recommend gift vouchers for some of our favourite Melbourne restaurants.

It’s hard to go past Supernormal on Flinders Lane for an inspired interpretation of the cuisine and restaurants of Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul and Hong Kong. There’s a reason we’ve been starting our Progressive Degustation Tours at Supernormal!

For a hidden gem, Peruvian restaurant Pastuso is tucked down the end of iconic AC/DC Lane for pisco sours and and the taste of Peru  – They’ve got gift vouchers here, as well as options for Argentinian and European wine delivery!

Whether it’s fresh seafood from Ike-Jime or a classic dinner at Vue de Monde, Vue Group has some options for you here.

Feed Mum now with some special delivery options

You can have a Comfort Box delivered from Trattoria Emilia here.

Get a Mother’s Day High Tea with a selection of Punch Lane sweet & savoury classics, with the option to add on flowers or a bottle of wine. You can order here.

Drinks and sweets, you say?

We adore Patricia for coffee which is why it has long been a tasting stop on our Cafe Culture Walk, and we were very excited to learn that they’ve just launched an online store. You can order gorgeous cups and saucers, cute totes, coffee beans (whole or ground) and if you really want to impress Mum you could get her a coffee subscription! All of that here.

If Mum is a gin-lover, you can’t go past city distillery Little Lon Distilling Co. You can send a bottle of gin or even purchase a gift voucher for a gin masterclass in the future here.

You could send macarons from La Belle Miette here, or get a personalised  gift box message from Koko Black.

Simply Melbourne gifts

Melbournalia is a one-stop shop for gifts no matter the time of year with gorgeous gift packs and Melbourne made products, but they’ve also got some great recommendations for Mum here.

And then if you’re after something personalised, there’s always The Melbourne Shop too here.

For the fashion conscious Mum, sibling-run Alpha 60 has just dropped a gorgeous line of knits in time for the shift in weather.

For something bookish! Jacyln Crupi is a living treasure of a bookseller at Hill of Content, the meeting point for our Cafe Culture Tours because books and coffee go together like… well, books and coffee! Crupi has just released her very own book, Nonna Knows Best: The Italian Art of Living Best. Filled with stellar recipes and wisdom, it is an ode to nonnas everywhere. Copies from Hill Of Content have been signed by the author and you can grab one for Mum (or yourself, we won’t tell) here. Of course, there are also plenty of other books to choose from.

Then there is the Archley’s Book of Books, a super thoughtful gift for the book buffs! A journal for recording books read, with a little exploration of active reading tips and techniques for reflection. They’re also offering free Mother’s Day gift wrapping too which you can check out here.

We do hope this guide has given you some ideas, and we won’t tell if you end up making a few purchases for yourself too.
