Here at Hidden Secrets Tours, one of our signature and most popular tours is our Cafe Culture Walking Tour. We love to show both visitors and locals around the amazing cafe’s Melbourne has to offer. The cafe culture in our city has grown and evolved to become an attraction in itself for visitors to Melbourne, which is why we love to share some of the city’s best cafes on our Cafe Culture Walk.
Here is a beautiful spot we find it hard to walk pass on our walking tour:
Casual Eats
Enjoy a little art, a little food and a little piece of Melbourne’s heritage. Self Preservation located towards the east of Bourke street known to locals as Bourke Hill, is the perfect mix of informal yet polished dining. The cafe/gallery is opened for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a favourite amongst many locals, a pastime called ‘brunch’ all day breakfast served only on weekends. Enjoy an extensive wine list that includes local vineyards and boutique brewers, matched with a seasonal menu, alongside local artists and jewellers being exhibited within. Autumn seating is best experienced outside with a good book or a friendly chat with many of the regulars that pull up a chair. Watch the world go by amongst falling leaves and the sounds of trams rattling past, all whilst you enjoy a casual eat.
